Commenting on the acquisition, Dr David Klett, member of the board of Ernst Klett AG, said, “Zwijsen is a strong, established participant of the Dutch and Belgian education market and we see enormous potential in the publishing house. Through this step we are strengthening our position in two of the most interesting and dynamic education markets in Europe.”
Like the Klett Group, Zwijsen is a long-established company and its history dates back to1846. With a turnover of € 32 million in 2022, Zwijsen is a leading education company in Belgium and the Netherlands. A special focus of the programme is early reading and the continuous improvement of reading skills. Both are traditionally given considerable attention in schools, especially in the Netherlands.
Finnish company Studeo joined the Klett Education Group in September 2022. Its products and services focus on the development of digital teaching and learning platforms for all subjects in the Finnish school system with a special emphasis on secondary education. Ernst Klett AG is the majority shareholder of the education provider. With the acquisitions of Zwijsen and Studeo, the Klett Group will be able to grow and strengthen its position and presence in key European education markets.
As one of Europe’s leading educational companies, the Klett Group is represented internationally in 20 countries. The portfolio includes traditional and state-of-the-art educational media for day-to-day use in schools as well as lesson planning materials, specialist literature, and the classics.
